Types of Boat Hire
Sail Boat Hire
If you are considering hiring a boat, you will undoubtedly be aware that there is a vast selection available to rent. From speed boats to yachts, the only real obstacle is how much money you are willing to spend. While like most things it is definitely a matter of personal preference, I really don't think you can go wrong with choosing to hire some form of sail boat. A sail boat is simply a small yacht but unlike yacht hire which can be expensive, sail boat hire need not be and can be highly affordable if at least four people chip in. And while sail boat hire leads to a little less room to move around than with yacht, all the pleasure of sailing can be experienced at a fraction of the cost. If you are considering sail boat hire, I would now likely to dispel two common misconceptions about it.
Misconception #1: Experience is required.
When most people consider sail boat hire, they wonder whether they need any experience. A lot of people actually don't even consider the idea as they automatically assume that experience is required. This is far from the case and most companies that specialise in sail boat hire are very much used to beginners contacting them without a clue how to sail. Because of this they offer many different forms of sail boat hire, from sail boat hire where you need to do everything yourself to sail boat hire that comes complete with a skipper that will do all the work for you, therefore without any experience whatsoever, you can easily hire a sail boat.
Misconception #2: A holiday spent aboard a sail boat is expensive.
Many people assume that such a holiday will be out of their price range. This is simply not the case. A holiday spent on a sail boat is often cheaper than the land based equivalent. This is due to the fact that a hotel for four people is likely to be almost the same price as hiring a sail boat. And on top of that, due to the beauty of sailing people tend to spend a lot less money when they have a sail boat at their disposal. Its very simple really, why would you want to pay for expensive food in a fancy restaurant when you could be eating food you cooked yourself on the deck of your boat. The same applies to the choice between drinking wine on the deck or going down the pub.
So in conclusion, I have been interested in sail boat hire for three years now and I think that if you haven't tried it and you are looking for something a little bit different than you cannot go wrong. You do not need any experience and a holiday spent on board a sail boat will cost no more than one spent on dry land and yet most people find it leads to a far more memorable holiday.
